The gable-with-a-lid-on-top design allowed for temperature in the tobacco kilns to be controlled by opening and closing flaps. This feature has been retained so that guests can regulate temperature in the buildings in the same way, which makes it nice and cool on hot summer days.
Each cottage has a pot-belly stove, supplied with dry firewood, to make you feel warm and cosy on the cold nights.
All water is UV sterilised rain water.
All buildings have complete linen, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery. They have a microwave in addition to gas hob and oven.
Only Bassett's cottage has a television and dvd player.
There is a gas fired BBQ in front of the Double Kiln building, which is for use by all the guests.
You will have phone reception if you sit by a window or outside and if you are on a telstra based network or on vodaphone. Optus does not appear to provide you with reception .
We are dog friendly and have organised a separate dog enclosure with a kennel inside, which can be used by the occupants of any of the cottages, to make sure your dog cannot escape. Please discuss when booking. Bassett's also has a fenced area and the verandah can be closed off.
